Wheaton's NEWMAC men's hoops tourney game available on the webFebruary 23, 2006 NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's basketball's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament semifinal round game at nationally-ranked Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) will be broadcast live on www.sportsjuice.com Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. from WPI's Harrington Auditorium. In addition to the contest featuring top seed WPI and fourth-seeded Wheaton, the second semifinal pitting number two Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) against the third-seeded United States Coast Guard Academy at 3:00 p.m. can also be heard on SportsJuice.com. Mark Simon will provide the play-by-play of both games while Coast Guard sports information director Jason Southard will contribute color commentary of the second contest. Sunday's championship game can be seen as a video webcast from Penn Atlantic. The webcast is the first of its kind in the NEWMAC. A link will be made available Sunday morning and can be found on the conference website at www.newmaconline.com. Those with a dial-up connection will be able to receive audio of the webcast at www.d3hoops.com/audio. The Wheaton men captured their 16th win for the fourth straight season last Tuesday in an 82-78 first-round victory over Springfield College, while WPI, ranked 23rd in the latest D3hoops.com poll, will return to the court for the first time since a February 14 win over Springfield. The victory secured WPI's first outright NEWMAC regular season title after sharing the crown the past two seasons. After splitting the regular season series, with the home team victorious each time, Wheaton will look to avenge last year's 64-60 setback to WPI in the NEWMAC Tournament championship game. The Lyons have reached the tournament semifinal round for the seventh time in the conference's eight-year history, qualifying for the finals in 2002 and 2004, while the Engineers have made it to the semifinals in each of the last three seasons, including last year's title game. Tickets for the tournament will be sold by the WPI Athletic Department at $4 for adults, $2 for senior citizens, $1 for students and children ages 12-17, and free for children under the age of 12.
