Intersections 2004
It's where great ideas and fascinating people come together. Intersections seminars connect Wheaton faculty, alumnae/i and parents coast to coast for lively discussions on topics as diverse as Fred and Ginger, cinema and the city, U.S. politics and policy, and the multifaceted work of Rembrandt.
The Intersections series reflects the new Wheaton Curriculum and its emphasis on faculty-student collaboration, connections across disciplines, and links between classroom learning and the wider world. President Dale Rogers Marshall will present welcoming remarks at each seminar during her farewell visits to major cities across the country. Join us for Intersections 2004, and share in a Wheaton learning adventure in your own backyard.

Featured art, above: Sectional Chart, acrylic, mixed media on canvas, 78x60 inches, 2003, by Patty Stone, assistant professor of art. The painting is one of a series from an exhibition entitled Aerial Mappings, inspired by Professor Stone's love of the topography of the Southwest, her father's passion for flying and the aerial maps saved from his experience as a bomber pilot during World War II. The paintings evoke the vast perspectives of the desert and of the pilot as well as the geometry of borders that humans superimpose on the landscape and in the imagination.
