Academics at Wheaton
Classes force you to think outside of the box. You are challenge by professors who make you think critically, peers from different backgrounds and opinions. You are able to take a wide range of courses and delve into topics you might have never expected. The professors become your friends and mentors. You create a relationship with them that remains throughout your time. Even if it was just one class, they remember you and greet you in the dining hall.

Adjusting to Wheaton
Having never been to Wheaton, I relied on others to direct me and find my way. Orientation was critical in introducing me to Wheaton. It has been challenging to become more vocal about what I feel and my opinions, but with time and encouragement, I feel very comfortable speaking up, and knowledgeable enough to have more intellectual conversations. The hard part has been being away from home for the big celebrations and events. If anything, being away just reinforces your connection with your home and family, so that whenever you see them, it is that much more rewarding.

Have you made lasting friendships here?
I have sincerely met the most interesting, diverse, inspirational and supportive people ever. These people will forever be a large part of my life, and we will have Wheaton to thank that for.

Where have you traveled in the U.S.?
I've been to many places since coming here: Atlanta, New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Miami, Orlando, Salem, Mass., Stamford, C.T., and to nearby Montreal in Canada.

What do you like about Wheaton?
I like the connection we all have to this place. We are going through the same experiences, thus a supportive network is created. I like it that even if you do not know someone personally, you all smile to each other when you are walking to class, hold the door for strangers, or criticize the night's menu at the dining hall.

Internships or jobs
I've work at the Center for Global Education since freshman year. I have also volunteered and worked with the Office of Student Life and Alumnae/i Relations during Orientation and Commencement. Outside of school, I interned at AIG and Citibank in Honduras, Amnesty International in Sydney, Australia, and currently at Smith Barney in Boston.

How has this experience impacted your life?
Wheaton did change my life. I will forever remember this place and the people that I have met. I have been able to take a wide range of classes, do research in things I have an interest in, go abroad, meet people from around the world and from different walks of life. Wheaton and my experiences have prepared me for the 'real world' that I am about to enter, and I will forever be grateful.
