Accomplishments FY2002
Communications Committee
- The staff council newsletter and the web page were revised. The Newsletter has a new, inviting layout; the web page provides historical information about Staff Council (charter, accomplishments, etc.) as well as current information (trips, membership, contact information).
- A new bookmark was created for distributed to new employees. It replaces the brochure that was previously distributed and provides key information about Staff Council.
- Trips included: Salem, MA; Hartford Festival of Lights; Providence Bruins game; the musical, Chicago; Red Sox game; a Boston Duck Tour; and a Maine Lobster Bake.
Employment Environment Committee
- A recommendation was made for budget considerations for the 2004 fiscal year that would provide internet access for retirees.
- Asked to consider ways to enhance services provided during orientation, suggestions were submitted to the President about the importance of clarifying and communicating what office need to provide services.
Nominations and Elections Committee
- Three elections were held and several appointments were made.
- The "How To" procedural document created last year was further refined and a "election checklist summary" was created to assist the election process.
- A database was developed of individuals who have served on Staff Council and Committees, as well as those who have expressed an interest in serving.
Other Accomplishments
- A Department Fair was organized as the Spring All-Staff meeting. The Fair showcased key accomplishments and highlighted responsibilities of the various departments on campus. The fair successfully met the goal of creating an opportunity for staff to make connections, learn something new and feel a sense of community.
