"When I traveled to Russia in high school it sparked an interest in me and Wheaton gave me the opportunity to pursue that interest. The professors in the Russian language department, the History department and the Political Science department helped me in both of my majors. People want to see you succeed here. I think that it's a personal goal of theirs too. The size of the Russian department helped me by allowing me the personal attention that I require. You can learn a lot more if you feel free to ask questions and take the time you need to understand the material."
"The Russian Department is small and offers a sense of familiarity with other students as well as with the faculty, who are approachable and knowledgeable. We study Russian language, cultural history plus current issues through other departments who work with Russian Studies. It's been fulfilling, and fun!"

"What attracted me to come to Wheaton was the excellent Russian studies program that we have. The program not only concentrates on some areas like culture, but looks at the broader picture too -- the economics, the language, and the politics of Russia. The Russian studies major is truly interdepartmental and allowed me to take classes with the best professors in their various fields. The classes were small, which allowed me to get to know my professors. The Russian studies program at Wheaton is excellent!"
"Probably the two key points that played the largest role in my deciding to follow through on a major in Russian were the outstanding individual attention from the faculty, and the fact that a truly inter-disciplinary major, which Wheaton very fortunately offers, would allow me to take my Russian-related skills wherever I wanted to whenever I wanted to go down the road." |
