The Wheaton College Philosophy Club
The Philosophy Club is a resource for any Wheaton student who wants to engage in philosophical discussions and other extracurricular outlets outside of the classroom. In creating a community of majors, minors, and other students interested in Philosophy, we can establish a forum where our members can express ideas and questions freely, can stay informed about academic opportunities in Philosophy outside of Wheaton, and to connect with a group of students who share their interests.
Our primary goals for the 2008-2009 Academic Year are:
- To keep club members updated on campus events of philosophical nature as well as Philosophy conferences and academic journal submission deadlines
- To have informal gatherings and discussions twice a month, and sometimes in the form of film screenings followed by discussions
- To develop the framework needed to support a future Wheaton Undergraduate Philosophy Journal through blogging. We will post bi-weekly prompts to get posters thinking about metaphysical, ethical, and current event topics and will choose the most compelling entries to be expanded into short papers and as potential entries in a more formal publication.
