Area Coordinators
The five Area Coordinators are live-in professionals who act as student advocates within the residence halls. They support students in their academic, personal, and social development. The Area Coordinators work closely with student hall staff.
Hall Staff
Each residence hall is staffed by teams of students specially selected and trained in leadership and peer counseling. These teams are made up of one Senior Head Resident and two Head Residents who are responsible for the overall coordination of the halls and ten to twelve Resident Assistants assigned to each of the floors within a residence building. These students are available to offer students peer support on academic and social issues. They also serve as resource persons within the hall, answering questions about campus life, sponsoring educational and social programs, and promoting a sense of community on the floor and in the building. Members of hall staff are on-call throughout the campus in the evenings. Students are encouraged to get to know their hall staff, who are there to assist you in making the most of your living environment.
Housekeepers
Each building is staffed by housekeepers and/or janitors who are primarily responsible for cleaning common areas. Students are encouraged to get to know their housekeepers, as they can be helpful in many ways.
Roommates
Getting along with roommates is not always an easy task. Depending upon whether you are a new or returning student, your roommate may be a friend, acquaintance, or total stranger. You may have been assigned to live together or you may have chosen one another as roommates. Regardless of how well you know each other, living in close quarters with someone is a challenging experience. Becoming aware of the habits, attitudes, likes, dislikes and expectations of your roommate is essential in meeting this challenge. It is important that you take the time to keep open lines of communications between you. Throughout the year, your hall staff and the members of the Office of Student Life are available to help you in making this experience a positive one.
