Public Computing Facilities Public Computing WorkstationsThe Library provides approximately 63 public computers throughout the Library. In the Atrium 15 Dell and 7 Macintosh computers equipped with Microsoft Office applications and Internet access are available during regular library hours. Additional computers are available in the Library's two electronic classrooms and four collaboration rooms. Several individual workstations are located on each level of the Library. Electronic ClassroomsThe Mabel Tingley Woolley Class of 1925 Electronic Classroom (referred to as "WEC"), located on the Main Level, is equipped with 13 Dell computers installed with Microsoft Office applications and Internet access. Network connections for 20 laptop computers are available at a center seminar table. The Electronic Classroom is available as a general computer lab when not in use as a Library teaching space.
The Stacks Level Electronic Classroom (referred to as "SLEC"), is located on your left as you enter the Stacks. This classroom is equipped with 13 Dell computers installed with Microsoft Office applications and Internet access. This room is available as a general computer lab when not in use for instruction. Technology-Equipped Collaboration RoomsThree technology-equipped Collaboration Rooms are available in the Stacks Level. These rooms are ideal for 2-5 users who need to collaborate on assignments and presentations using the installed computers with 30"-32" monitors. A laptop can also be connected to the monitor. A fourth technology-equipped Collaboration Room is located on the Periodicals Level. This room is for groups of 5 or more who need to collaborate on presentations using the installed computer with the LG flat screen TV or a laptop. This room has DVD, VCR, and Media Player capabilities and may be used for group viewing of academic reserve films. These rooms may be reserved at the Circulation Desk near the front door of the Library. Visit the Public Service Assistant (PSA) working at the Information Desk or in the Stacks to check on availability and to obtain access to these rooms. Academic SoftwareA variety of specialized, academic software applications that support the curriculum at Wheaton are installed on the LIS's public workstations.

TransAtlantic Slave Trade (Contact person: Jenni Lund) Library - all workstations Scanning/Graphics WorkstationA Dell workstation, including graphics software and a scanner, is available outside the Stacks Level Electronic Classroom. The scanner has an automatic document feeder in addition to the flatbed. The computer is installed with the following specialized applications: Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe InDesign CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, Macromedia Dreamweaver 8, Adobe GoLive CS2, Macromedia Flash Professional 8, Macromedia Fireworks 8, Macromedia Contribute 3, Macromedia FlashPaper 2, and ScanSoft OmniPage. A combination CD/DVD burner is installed at this workstation. Laser PrintersAll Library computers are connected to printers in the Atrium on the Main Level and in the Woolley Electronic Classroom (WEC). An additional laser printer is located at the base of the Stair Tower on the Stacks Level.
Color printing and photocopying services are available through Office Services. Files can be sent as attachments for color printing. Fees are charged for color printing and copying. Wireless Network and PrintingWireless Network Access Wireless access to the Wheaton network is available on all floors of the Library. Wireless Printing Laptop users can configure their computers to print to Library public printers. Library Laptop LoaningThe Library has 6 Dell Latitude D630 laptops available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. Wheaton students with a valid Wheaton College ID may borrow laptops for use within the facility. Library Laptop Loaning Policy Food and Drink Policy for Library Computing AreasNo food should be consumed at computing workstations. Drinks may be consumed if they are in spill proof containers. Bottled water and snack vending machines are located under the stairs at the base of the Stair Tower. Any meal type foods brought into the building may be consumed at the tables provided near the front of the building at the base of the Marble Stairs.
