Brief Overview of CLIR CIOs Group
The CLIR CIOs is an informal group of chief information officers (CIOs) representing thirty-two private colleges and universities with core liberal arts programs. The common goal of these institutions is to unify library and many information technology (IT) services on their respective campuses. These thirty-two colleges and universities are either sponsors of the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR)
In addition, twenty-five of these institutions are members of the Oberlin Group, an informal consortium of library directors representing seventy-five selective U.S. liberal arts colleges. Thus thirty-three percent of the Oberlin Group is represented among the CLIR CIOs. The five additional CLIR CIOs institutions are: Hampshire College, Mitchell College, Pacific Lutheran University, Sarah Lawrence College, SUNY Brockport, and the University of Richmond.
To date, the CLIR CIOs group has held information meetings in Washington, DC on these dates:
- May 14, 2002
- September 17, 2002
- May 13, 2003
- November 20, 2003
- May 25, 2004
- November 19, 2004
- November 17, 2005
In addition, the CLIR CIOs sponsored a conference at Kenyon College, Gambier, OH on March 9-11, 2005.
