Public Printing at Wheaton College

This page outlines the basic information needed to connect your Windows XP PC or Macintosh OSX computer to the two Xerox Phaser 5500N printers located in the atrium in the Library and how to connect your Windows XP PC to the Dell W5300N printer located in the Kollett Center for Collaborative Learning. Windows XP Directions

  • Go to Start -> Printers and Faxes
  • Go to Start -> Run and type in \\printserver and hit enter.
  • Within the printserver window drag and drop either Library print queues LIBR-ATRIUM-XEROX-5500N-1 or LIBR-ATRIUM-XEROX-5500N-2 into your local Printers and Faxes window and select Install. To connect to the Dell W5300N printer in the Kollett Center for Collaborative Learning drag and drop the print queue named KCCL-MAINFLOOR-DELL-W5300N into your local Printers and Faxes window and select Install.

Macintosh OSX Directions

Note: Before you can print to one of the Library Xerox printers, you might first have to download and install the Xerox Phaser 5500N driver if it is not already listed as an available printer type.

  • From the Mac OSX Finder go to Go --> Applications --> Utilities --> Printer Setup Utility
  • Select the Add button from the top menu
  • Click the IP Printer button and select Line Printer Daemon - LPD from the Protocol menu
  • For the Address: enter either libr-atrium-xerox-5500n-1.wheatonma.edu (the printer on the left) or libr-atrium-xerox-5500n-2.wheatonma.edu (the printer on the right). Leave the Queue: blank. From the Printer Model: pull down menu select Xerox then Xerox Phaser 5500N then select Add
