Wheaton in Germany
A Consortial Program with the University of Regensburg
Profile: For more than 30 years, Vanderbilt and Wesleyan have offered a joint semester abroad program with the University of Regensburg, one of the most respected research institutions in Germany. Wheaton College will join in this tradition by offering a program that includes intensive German, academic courses and culturally enriching experiences from January through July of each year. The University of Regensburg has 20,000 students and offers a full range of majors in 23 disciplines.
Location: Regensburg, a city of 140,000 inhabitants, is located in Bavaria close to the Czech border. It offers 2,000 years of cultural history and it's medieval and Renaissance Altstadt is one of the best preserved in Germany. The city is a center of classical musical activity, with concert series, operas, and music festivals.
Duration: Spring semester only
Program dates:
Spring 2009: Mid January - Mid July
Courses & credit: Students enroll in an intensive 2-credit language course and two or three additional courses for a total of 4.0-5.0 Wheaton credits. Courses are taught in German. It is important for students to realize that they will need to be flexible in selecting courses at the course catalog is tentative until before classes begin.

Admission requirements: Students with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students must have three semesters of college-level German language experience.
Housing & board: Students live in one of the self-catered German residence halls located throughout Regensburg.
Fees: Wheaton tuition and housing - Expenses covered include tuition & fees, housing, round-trip group flight from New York City, cultural events, field trip to Berlin, German insurance, bus pass, and an ISIC card.
Other Expenses: Students are responsible for self-catered board expenses, passport and Residence Permit fees, round-trip airfare to designated departure city, linen rental, and Supplemental Study Abroad Insurance.
