Sweet Briar College Junior Year in France
Profile: The Sweet Briar College Junior Year in France Program is the oldest coeducational intercollegiate program in Paris. Created in 1923 by the University of Delaware, the Junior Year in France offers a rigorous curriculum in French language and literature as well as eight other fields of study. Additional courses may be taken at the University of Paris (Paris III, Paris IV, or Paris VII) and a few other institutions in the city.
Location: The program takes place in Paris, the City of Lights, and the center of famous art, authors, and musicians. The cosmopolitan city of Paris is made up of 2.2 million inhabitants who live in one of the twenty sections of the city called arrondissements. Students are able to travel in and around the city via the Metro as well as have easy access to other parts of Europe.

Fall 2007: Late August - Mid January
Spring 2008: Mid January - Late May
Courses & credit: Students enroll in four courses per semester (nine for the academic year) for 4.0 Wheaton credits. Of the four courses per semester, two are taken at the University of Paris. Students earn 1 credit for the methodology program during orientation. All courses are taught in French.

Admission requirements: Students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (fall & academic year) or 3.5 GPA (spring). Students must have completed two years of college-level French language including one or more literature, language or civilization courses beyond the intermediate level or equivalent.
Housing & board: Students live with French host families in order to gain an in-depth cultural experience. Most meals are provided by the host family. Students are provided with a board stipend per semester.
Fees: Wheaton Comprehensive fee. Expenses covered include tuition, housing, board, board stipend, round-trip group flight from New York (fall) or Washington D.C. (spring), program sponsored field trips, study abroad insurance, and an ISIC card.
Other Expenses: Students are responsible for passport and visa fees, round-trip airfare to meet the group flight, and personal expenses.
