IES affiliation with Nanzan University
Profile: The IES program in Nagoya was founded in 1986 and enrolls around 20 students per semester. The program is affiliated with Nanzan University, one of Japan's leading educational institutions. The University also contains the Center for Japanese Studies which specializes in Japanese language study as well as other courses taught in English throughout the semester.
Location: Nagoya is home to 2 million Japanese people and is one of Japan's leading industrial cities. It offers spectacular sites such as Nagoya Castle, Ise Bay, and Nobi Plain. Nanzan University is situated upon a hill overlooking Nagoya. Students have a chance to interact within the community during their time abroad through volunteer opportunities in local schools teaching English.
Duration: Academic year, fall, or spring semesters
Program dates:
Fall: Late August - Late December
Spring: Early January - Mid May
Courses & credit: Students take one Japanese Language course (8 credits) in addition to 2-3 additional area studies courses to receive 4.0 Wheaton credits. Courses are offered in English and Japanese.

Admission requirements: Students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (overall and in Japanese courses). Semester students must have completed one year of Japanese language study. Applicants must complete Nanzan University application as well as the one for Wheaton and IES.
Housing & board: Housing is arranged either with Japanese host families or in single rooms in one of the on-campus or off-campus residence hall options (varying meal plans).
Fees: Wheaton tuition and housing. Expenses covered include tuition, housing, round-trip group flight from Los Angeles, program related field trips, and an ISIC card.
Other Expenses: Students are responsible for board, passport and visa fees, round-trip airfare to Los Angeles, textbooks, IES insurance, national health insurance, local transportation, required cell phone, and personal expenses.
