Wheaton in Argentina: Mendoza
The Argentine Universities Program in affiliation with COPA (Cooperating Programs in the Americas)
Profile: One of the finest regional universities in Argentina, Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (UNC) offers excellent academics in a beautiful, small-city environment. If you're looking for the excitement and entertainment possibilities of city life and the opportunity for outdoor adventure, UNC may be right for you. UNC is particularly renowned for its fine and performing arts departments; art, music, and dance students from throughout Latin America study at UNC. The politics, economics, and literature departments also are well respected.
Location: In the heart of the wine-producing region of Cuyo lies Mendoza, a beautiful, green city with a bustling downtown and tranquil, well-kept neighborhoods. The city itself has a lively atmosphere thanks to its great dining and entertainment scenes. You'll find museums, theatres, outdoor markets, and nightclubs in this charming city. Mendoza and the area surrounding it are a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Mendoza's position at the foot of the Andes Mountains puts it right next to some of the world's best skiing. Nearby Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Andes, draws devoted mountain climbers, and in the summer months you can head out for mountain biking, rafting, and hiking.
