Wheaton International Internship Programs: Australia, England, France, and Ireland

Profile: Students are encouraged to consider credit-bearing, international internships through Wheaton's affiliation with Boston University's International Programs. Students gain practical work experience in a global setting and are placed in internships in a variety of disciplines ranging from the arts and politics, to health and human services. Students participate in the local work life through internships with multinational businesses and organizations. Seminars focus on the host country's history, contemporary culture and society, including literature, the arts, politics, law, international relations, economy, journalism and media.
Location: Internship Programs are based in the dynamic capital cities of Australia, England, France, and Ireland. Courses are taught at Boston University Centers by faculty from area universities, as well as professionals in the fields represented.
Duration: One Semester. Fourteen weeks, divided into a Core Phase, with required and elective seminars and the Internship Phase during which students work full-time, four days a week, while also enrolling in an elective course.

Courses & credit: Students take required Core courses, elective seminars and the internship component for which they receive 16 U.S semester hours for 4.0 Wheaton credits. Students must obtain approval from a Wheaton academic department in order to receive academic credit for the internship seminar and experience.

Wheaton credit is not awarded for internships in Hospitality and Tourism, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, or other Management fields.
Admission requirements: Minimum GPA 3.0. Certain programsare more competitive and a high gpa requirement may result. Rolling admissions. Early application is encouraged. All applications are submitted to the Center for Global Education with supporting documents and the Wheaton transcript. Students should not submit applications electronically to Boston University.
Housing & board: Varies by location, with dormitory style housing, apartments or host family accommodations. Facilities are self-catering and students arrange their own meals.
Fees: Wheaton Tuition & Housing. Expenses covered include tuition, housing, round-trip airfare on group flights (from Boston or New York for European locations and Los Angeles for Australia) and the ISIC card.
Other Expenses: Students are responsible for the cost of meals, transportation to group flight departure cities, passport and visa fees, local transportation, books and supplies, supplemental Study Abroad Insurance, and personal expenses.

Core courses correspond to the area selected, or may be general cultural or language courses, depending on location. Internship placements are contingent upon the student's past experience, professional interests and available opportunities. Flexibility is essential.
