Profile: New Zealand's largest university, The University of Auckland was established in 1883, and has grown into an international center of learning and academic excellence. The University is situated in the heart of the cosmopolitan city of Auckland and provides an exciting and stimulating environment for 28,000 students, 2,000 which are international students from 76 countries.

Location: Auckland is New Zealand's largest city, with a metropolitan population of just over a million. The city is also known by its Maori name as Tamaki-makau-rau, "desired by thousands". The University of Auckland's campus offers the attractions of city life combined with the appeal of outdoor living - close to cafes, restaurants, cinemas, parks, quality clothing and craft shopping, yet within 30 minutes of some of the world's most stunning beaches.

Duration: Academic year, fall, and spring Semesters

Program dates:
Fall 2010 (Semester II): approx. July 6 ˆ November 17
Spring 2010 (Semester I): approx. March 2- June 29

Courses & credit: A full course load is four courses totaling 60 credits per semester which equal 4.0 Wheaton credits. Students attending for a full academic year will take seven courses for 8.0 Wheaton credits.

Admission requirements: Students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Housing & board: Students live in single studio rooms in a residence hall (Railway Campus) converted from a railway station just a few minutes walk from campus. Students have access to a shared kitchen facility to prepare meals.

Fees: Wheaton tuition and housing. Expenses covered include tuition and fees, housing, round-trip group flight from Los Angeles, New Zealand Insurance, gym membership, and an ISIC card.


Other Expenses: Students are responsible for passport fees, round-trip airfare to Los Angeles, board (meals), Study Abroad Insurance, a refundable housing deposit, internet fees, linen rental, and personal expenses.
