COLLABORATING WITH THE FILENE CENTER
The Filene Center welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with faculty in developing field sites for courses including experiential components. The Filene Center advisors are available to:
- Meet with faculty to review course objectives and to determine types of settings and experiential activities that would best enhance learning goals.
- Recommend critical reflection activities.
- Initiate contact with site supervisors and explore potential partnerships.
- Generate a directory of course specific sites approved by faculty for student field work.
- Assist faculty in drafting a "Learning Contract" clearly outlining expectations for student participation.
Possible Next Steps
If you would like to work with the Filene Center to design a new course or transform an old course with experiential teaching and learning, please plan to work with the Center at least one semester in advance of offering the course. Contact Kay Gruder (Ext. 3796, Kgruder), Experiential Committee Member. Kay will share requests with one or more of her colleagues who have expertise relevant to the experiential component of the course.
