A.B., Wheaton College, 97

Main Interests

Teaching, directing and helping my students discover their artistic voices in whatever creative venue that applies. Also connecting with disciplines outside of the arts to encourage conversation through the theatre.

Research Interests

Politically and socially relevant theatre, how it can be used on college campuses to help diversity.

Teaching Interests

Exploring how contemporary playwrights have dealt with controversial issues, such as race, sexuality, religion, and class and discovering how theatre can be used as a vehicle to unite communties and encourage dialouge.

I also love teaching beginning acting where we focus on discovering and freeing the actor's voice, body and spirit.

Other Interests

I love climbing the rocks at the beach in southern Maine, getting lost in a great book, eating fabulous meals with family and friends ... cross-stitch, knitting ... a novice but enthusiastic camper, hiker, and bike rider!

I am also a proud alumna of Wheaton College, class of '97. My favorite time in October is coming back for Homecoming to visit with friends and enjoy the beauty of the campus in the fall.

Student Projects

This semester, the students are singing, dancing and acting in A Chorus Line; acting in Jane Martin's Vital Signs in Beginning Acting; directing scenes from Ibsen's A Dolls House in Beginning Directing.

Performances

This past June in NYC, I directed a staged reading of Charlotte Meehan's new play, Looking for George. We will do another reading with Wheaton students this Dec for faculty and staff at a lunch time performance. In May, I will perform in Meehan's Sweet Disaster at the Perishable Theatre in Providence, RI.

Selected Publications, Creative Work or Performances

Directed Paula Vogel's HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE and THE LONG CHRISTMAS RIDE HOME, Sophocles' ANTIGONE, Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA, PART ONE MILLENNIUM APPROACHES, Charlotte Meehan's SPELLSONG, Anna Deavere Smith's HOUSE ARREST, and currently working on A CHORUS LINE.

Most recently performed in Lorca's THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA at the Providence Black Rep Company.
