Main Interests
Working with students to help them understand how scenery, props, sound and lighting can positively influence the experience of the theatrical audience. Teaching the basic skills to execute a design, create an environment, or remodel your house. Connecting skills learned in a theatrical setting to the outside world.
Teaching Interests
Beginner through advanced levels of Stagecraft, Lighting Design, and Sound Design. Working with students in the scene shop to gain confidence in themselves. Teaching an appreciation of the construction and decision making process that goes into choosing scenic materials and techniques.
Student Projects
Supervising student lighting and sound designers for theatre performances such as Macbeth and Dracula, as well as numerous dance pieces. Creating independent projects focusing on welding, furniture making, skateboard construction, and rafts for the Head of the Peacock regatta.
Creative Work
Professional technician who has worked for over 30 theatre companies, venues, colleges, and high schools in eight states. Experience as an Instructor, Technical Director, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Rigger, Carpenter, Welder, Electrician, Sound Engineer, Stage Manager, and Stagehand.
