MISSION STATEMENT

The Advising Collaborative is a network of Wheaton's advising centers that supports the College's academic mission with an integrated, holistic approach to advising. The centers work together in partnership with faculty in shaping the intellectual and personal development of students. As educators, the staffs of these centers support the Wheaton curriculum, and provide guidance, tools, resources and programming that promote students' exploration of learning options and cultivates their ability to make informed decisions in relation to their learning at Wheaton and beyond.

Goals of the Advising Centers of Wheaton College

  • Support Wheaton's curriculum through advising services and programs delivered to students and faculty.
  • Provide support to faculty advisors regarding academic policies, procedures, and resources that will make the advising process efficient and consistent for faculty, students and staff.
  • Coordinate the development of workshops for faculty and students that guide student development in the areas of academic, career, interpersonal skills and life-long learning.
  • Develop materials and tools to be used campus-wide for guiding faculty, students and staff with advising responsibilities.
  • Act as liaison with various campus committees and faculty to anticipate advising needs and to propose new initiatives to campus administration and faculty.
  • Create opportunities for shared professional development and cross-training between and among the various centers.
  • Design integrated web sites and publications that provide a context for viewing resources from a connected perspective.
