Lyons notch pair of event wins at Bryant track and field invitationalApril 8, 2006 SMITHFIELD, RI- Sophomores Megan Brousseau (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) and Joell Whitley (Magnolia, NJ/Triton Regional) each turned in top event finishes as the Wheaton College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the non-scoring Bryant Invitational on Saturday. Brousseau led a dominating performance for the Wheaton women in the 1,500-meter run, finishing first in 4:58.89. Senior Kendra Leith (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) followed in second with a time of 5:00.35, and freshman Amanda Rawson (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional) was fourth. Whitley recorded the Lyons' top field showing, pacing the long jump competitors with a leap of 16' 11". Junior Jennifer Harlow (East Bridgewater, MA/East Bridgewater) was right behind Whitley, coming in second at 16' 7". During the javelin competition, sophomore Cassandra Migani's (Brooklyn, CT/Norwich Free Academy) toss of 117' 2" was good for third, and junior Katelyn Teixeira (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk) rounded out the top five with a 111' 6" throw. On the men's side, sophomore Pat Benson (Foxboro, MA/Bishop Feehan) placed seventh overall in the 1,500-meter run and third among Division III athletes in the event.
