Ezeigwe corrals ECAC's first track and field honor of the spring

March 22, 2006

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's outdoor track and field standout Chizoba Ezeigwe (Brockton, MA/Thayer Academy) was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, March 19.

The first-year athlete met a pair of NCAA Division III Championship provisional times during the first outdoor race of her college career on Saturday at San Diego State University's Aztec Classic. Ezeigwe placed second in the 400-meter dash in 56.04, just 0.32 seconds behind a San Diego State runner, while claiming sixth in the 200-meter dash at 24.85, just 0.22 seconds out of a tie for second place.

Ezeigwe's performances came one week after earning All-America honors at the indoor national meet during the 400-meter dash competition.

Wheaton takes a weekend off before Ezeigwe leads the Lyons into action at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, April 1.
