Leith tabbed to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I teamJune 5, 2005 NORTON, MA- Wheaton College junior standout Kendra Leith (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) was tabbed to the ESPN The Magazine Academic College Division All-District I second team for the sports of women's track and field and women's cross country, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Leith picked up the award for the first time in her career. Leith, who has boasted an astounding 3.95 grade point average while pursuing an economics degree, competed on Wheaton's cross country squad alongside its indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Leith led the women harriers to the first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship in school history last fall, earning NEWMAC All-Conference honors after finishing fifth on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 18:41. In addition to garnering NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolades following the cross country and outdoor track seasons, Leith was a member of the school's unprecedented eighth straight conference championship at the NEWMAC spring meet in late April. Leith currently holds the 5,000-meter race school marks for both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 17:48.05 and 17:54.09, respectively. The District I College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont and provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec. To be nominated for the Academic-All America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, possess at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
