James wraps up month of April with third ECAC Track Athlete-of-the-Week selection

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's outdoor track and field standout Amber James (Woodbury, MN/Woodbury) wrapped up the month of April with her third Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track Athlete-of-the-Week selection and fifth overall. She collected the award for the week ending on Sunday, April 25.

James was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Year after capturing three individual event titles at this weekend's conference championship meet held at Springfield College. Leading the Lyons to their sixth straight NEWMAC title in the six-year history of the conference, she posted a pair of NCAA Division III national meet provisional qualifying times.

James recording provisional standards in the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.99 and 24.84, respectively. She then anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay team to a top finish in 50.15. Earlier in the week, James led Wheaton in the 4x400-meter relay at the prestigious Penn Relays, helping the Lyons place second in their heat with a national meet provisional qualifying time of 3:51.44.

Wheaton will open the month of May in Newark, Delaware, where the Lyons will compete at the Delaware University Invitational this Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
