Lyon women and men capture 12th and 25th place, respectively, among 47 teams at NCAA New England Championship

WATERFORD, CT- The Wheaton College women's and men's cross country teams captured 12th and 25th place, respectively, among 47 competing teams at Saturday's NCAA Division III New England Championship at Harkness State Park, as the Lyon teams completed their seasons today.

Hosted by Connecticut College, the women matched last year's finish and scored 362 points, while the men dropped one placement from a year ago and totaled 819 points. The Amherst College men and women each won their respective championships.

Juniors Amanda Rawson (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional) and Lauren Reddy (Walnut Creek, CA/Carondelet) paved the way for the women's squad, as each earned All-New England team honors by finishing in the top 35. Rawson covered the 6,000-meter course in 22:33, which was good for 27th place, while Reddy took 35th in a time of 22:43.

Sophomore Katie Pratt (Litchfield, CT/Litchfield) and freshman Ekaterina Gould (Wayland, MA/Wayland) completed the course as the 77th and 84th runners to cross the finish line, respectively, while first-year classmates Christina Nelson (Cranston, RI/Saint Mary Academy-Bay View) and Erin Jaske (Highlands Ranch, CO/Rock Canyon) rounded out Wheaton's finishers.

Freshman Matt Brousseau (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro) was the leader on the men's side, covering the 8K race in 72nd with a time of 26:07. Freshman Nick Kacher (Waltham, MA/Waltham) and junior Dan Libon (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) were 19 placements apart, while freshman Colin Fahey (Waltham, MA/Weston) was the Lyons' fourth runner to finish.

Junior co-captain Scott Hafferkamp (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) took fifth, while first-year athletes Brandon Waltz (South Thomaston, ME/Rockland District) and Natan Levy (Fort Lauderdale, FL/Pine Crest School) were five and 17 runners back from Hafferkamp, respectively, to complete the men's corps.
