Profile

After serving three years as Wheaton's assistant field hockey and women's lacrosse coach, Mary Jacobs was promoted to head coach of the school's lacrosse program for the spring of 2006. Jacobs did not disappoint, leading the Lyons to their fifth straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championship game. She helped guide Wheaton to a 9-7 overall record, 5-1 conference mark and second place in the regular season standings.

While working as Wheaton's assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, Jacobs played an integral role in helping lead the Lyons' lacrosse team to three straight postseason appearances. In addition to earning automatic berths to the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Tournaments, Wheaton captured a pair of NEWMAC Tournament titles and three straight regular season conference championships.

Before being hired at Wheaton, Jacobs served as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at Colby College in 2002. During that stint, the Mules were ranked among the top 20 Division III programs in the nation. Jacobs was responsible for assisting with daily practice planning, monitoring an in-season workout program, creating scouting reports and handling game management duties.

Jacobs is a 2002 graduate of Trinity College, where she earned a dual bachelor's degree in educational studies and sociology. During her four-year career with the Bantams, she actively played a part in both the field hockey and women's lacrosse programs. Jacobs still holds the Division III single-season lacrosse record for caused turnovers.

Jacobs was a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America player and College Lacrosse USA All-America selection. She also earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) all-region honors in 2001 and was selected to an All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) team in 2001. Jacobs is a 1997 graduate of The Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
