Profile

Gina Loudenburg's philosophy centers on three concepts: life skills, hard work and fun. Since joining the college's softball staff in 1990, Loudenburg has put these values to practice, posting one of the highest winning percentages among active NCAA Division III coaches at .727 (504-188-3). On April 20, 2007, she became the 15th coach in Division III history with 500 career victories.

Loudenburg's team highlights include winning the 1997, 2001 and 2004 NCAA New England Regional Tournaments and placing third at the NCAA College World Series in 1997 and 2001. Under Loudenburg's guidance, the team has qualified for seven trips to the NCAA Tournament and four appearances in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament.

Loudenburg's accolades include National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) New England Regional Coach of the Year in 1997, 1999, 2003 and 2004, New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2003, and New England Women's 8 Conference (NEW 8) Coach of the Year on four occasions.

Recognized as a national power, Wheaton has produced many regionally and nationally known athletes. Loudenburg has coached two Academic All-America athletes, 15 All-America selections, numerous NFCA and New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA) All-New England honorees, as well as several NEWMAC All-Conference and NEWMAC Academic All-Conference choices.

Aside from the competition on the field, Loudenburg currently serves as the senior woman administrator at Wheaton. She has also chaired the NFCA all-region committee and been a member of the ECAC Tournament selection committee. Serving as Wheaton's head women's volleyball coach from 1990-2000, Loudenburg compiled a record of 244-153 (.615) with 11 postseason appearances, including a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 1997.

A 1981 University of Northern Colorado graduate with a degree in physical education, Loudenburg played three years of field hockey and two years of softball for the Bears. In 1987, she earned a master's degree in physical education with an emphasis on coaching at Northern Colorado. Before leaving Colorado to join the Wheaton staff, Loudenburg spent three years as an assistant softball coach at Colorado State University.
