Class of 1979
Our 25th Reunion - May 21-23, 2004Hello, Class of 1979! Wecome to our new class Web page. Your class officers gathered together this fall on the Wheaton campus to start planning our 25th Reunion Weekend. YIKES! How can that be? We met during the Alumnae/i Leadership Conference and Homecoming weekend in October. The campus looked beautiful and the five of us managed to not only eat the lovely luncheon we were served but grab seconds from the table next to us. Some things never change! Our goal is to use this website as a vehicle to keep everyone informed and up to date as our plans evolve for our 25th Reunion. I would also like to use it as a way to share class news. Reunion planning sidetracked me from the class notes deadline so if any of you have news to share, please e-mail me and your news will be reported on our web page. If anyone's news has slipped through the cracks, please re-email me and I apologize. Ann Ferreira Kelly email to annfkelly@aol.com WHO'S COMINGTo get the most up-to-date list of who's coming to reunion log onto the Wheaton home page and click the following along the left side menu bar: Alumnae/i, Commencement & Reunion Weekend, Reunion, Find Out Who's Coming. Scroll down to Class of "79. Come on ladies, it's not to late! REUNION KICK-OFF LUNCHEONAll are invited to historic Newport, Rhode Island for lunch at the home of Ann Stoeffel Mencoff. Class New/NotesSadly, Nancy Brown Labrie lost her mother in February of this year. Carole Hawley Moore, Laura Kaynor Powers and I were able to attend her funeral in Yarmouth, Maine. It was a quick visit for a sad occasion but good to see each other. Special Reunion Needs/AccommodationsIf any classmates require any special accommodations during their stay at Wheaton, please advise Mary Lavin at the college. Annual FundOur class gift supports Wheaton through the Annual Fund. This year's Annual Fund goal is $3.3 million. The Annul Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of educating students. While endowed funds are invested to ensure the College's future strength, the Annual Fund acts as a "living endowment" allowing 100% of your gift to be spent immediately on the College's most important priorities. Our Annual Fund gifts are vitally important in supporting a wide variety of programs and educational experiences for our students and maintaining a select student body and committed faculty. Gifts of every amount to the Annual Fund are important--no matter the size--our collective giving and participation counts. For those who can consider it, one way to set a goal for personal annual giving is to join the Mary Lyon Society. FYIFor those of you who have not heard, Mary Robinson, the first female President of Ireland and former High Commissioner for Human Rights for the UN will be the commencement speaker on Saturday. Please take the time to complete the 25th Reunion Survey that you should have received in the mail. A big thanks to Cheryl Abrams Savit for compiling it for us. Any class members who are interested in getting more involved in reunion planning are urged to email me, Ann Ferreira Kelly, or Denise Delorey and we will happily put you to work. This web site is a work in progress so please bear with me as I've never done anything like this before! Class OfficersPlease stay in touch. This page is maintained by Ann Kelly.
