Health Insurance

Health Insurance Requirements and Waiver/Enrollment Process

According to state law, all students must be covered by a health insurance plan with comparable coverage as a Mass Qualifying Student Health Insurance Plan (QSHIP). To ensure that all students have the required health insurance coverage, students are charged for the Wheaton College Student Health Plan ($1,038.00 for 2007-2008). In order to waive enrollment in the Student Health Plan, an online Student Health Plan Waiver Form verifying enrollment in a comparable health plan by a U.S. health provider must be completed no later than the first week of September for Fall Semester coverage and the last week of January for Spring Semester coverage. Any student with health insurance provided outside of the United States will be required to enroll in the Student Health Plan. The purpose of this policy is to ensure timely and quality health care while attending Wheaton College. Students who do not complete and submit the online Medical Insurance Waiver will be assessed the full year premium.

Health Insurance Waiver

Optional Accident Insurance Plan

Wheaton College also offers an OPTIONAL Accident Insurance for any student who waives the Primary Wheaton Health Plan. The purpose of the Optional Plan is to provide low cost secondary insurance coverage, particularly for varsity athletes (under the accident sections of both policies, varsity athletes are covered 100%, subject to the policy limitations).
