Process for Completing Stafford and Perkins Loan Applications
Applying for a Federal Student loan for the first time? The following instructions are for students who have been awarded a federal Stafford loan and/or federal Perkins loan from Wheaton College for the first time. Please note that your loan will not be credited to your student account until all loan requirements are completed in full. If you have been awarded both a federal Stafford loan and a federal Perkins loan, you must complete a separate loan application process for each loan as outlined below.

Federal Stafford Loan Application Process:
1. Choose a lender for your Federal Stafford Loan
Before you can complete your Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) you will need to choose a lender for your loan. All borrowers have the right to borrow a federal Stafford loan from any participating lender they choose. Our Federal Stafford Loan Recommended Lender Comparison Chart can help you with the process of lender selection.

2. Complete a Federal Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling session and a Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Entrance counseling is required for all first time borrowers. Wheaton is pleased to provide an online entrance counseling process through Mapping Your Future. Once you have completed your entrance counseling requirement, you will be directed to American Student Assistance to set up a user ID and password and to complete your Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) online through ASA Direct.
If you have already completed your Entrance Counseling requirement but not your Master Promissory Note, you may link directly to ASA Direct here.
Federal Perkins Loan Application Process:
1. Complete your Federal Perkins Loan Interview Questionnaire, Perkins Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Truth-In-Lending Confirmation
If you have been awarded a Federal Perkins Loan, you will receive an email from Wheaton's Federal Perkins loan servicer, Campus Partners, directing you to their iPromise online service. This notice will be sent to your wheatoncollege.edu email account. Upon receipt, please go to https://ipromise.campuspartners.com and follow the instructions to complete the Loan Interview Questionnaire, Perkins Loan Master Promissory Note and Truth-In-Lending Confirmation. You do not choose a lender for your Federal Perkins loan as Wheaton College is the lender.
Remember, if you will receive both a Federal Stafford and Federal Perkins loan for the first time, you must complete a separate loan application process for each loan.
