Head Coach for Softball

Term: Full-time, 9 months

Reports to: Executive Director of Athletics

Description: The Head Coach for Softball will oversee all aspects of managing the college's softball program. Responsibilities include: evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes, organize and conduct team practices and manage games; monitor academic progress of student-athletes; prepare and oversee team scheduling and budget management; fund raise for spring break trip and hire, supervise and evaluate part-time assistant coaches. The successful candidate will adhere to all NCAA Division III, NEWMAC and institutional policies and procedures. Other administrative duties such as (game management, alumni affairs, facilities, community service) will be assigned by Executive Director of Athletics.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years experience in collegiate coaching or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree in Physical Education, previous experience in softball and other administrative experience is highly desirable. Established record of successful college coaching experience and a proven ability to recruit qualified student-athletes is essential. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and familiarity with the academic setting of a highly selective liberal arts institution is essential. Wheaton College seeks coaches who will develop qualities of leadership, character and citizenship in the student-athletes on their respective teams.

Salary: Administrative/Professional Grade 2
