Michael is responsible for managing all aspects of the college's external communications program, including major portions of this Web site.
Michael began his career in communications as a reporter, working for the Suffolk Life newspaper chain in Riverhead, N.Y. and later for the Ocean County Observer in Toms River, N.J. He came to Wheaton College in 1993 from South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, N.Y., where he served as news director.
In his spare time, Michael runs the roads of Southeastern Massachusetts and everyone cringes when he begins sentences with the phrases, "I had a thought while I was running the other day...."

Hannah is senior writer and associate director of communications. Currently, she serves as the editor of NEWS @ Wheaton, the college's monthly online newsletter. Faculty, staff, students, parents and alums are invited to send Hannah their story ideas for future issues. Hannah also contributes to the Wheaton Quarterly and other print and Web publications. She earned her B.A. from Connecticut College and an M.S. in journalism from Boston University. She has worked as a newspaper reporter, a feature writer, and a development writer, and is working on her first crime novel, which she will finish.

Ellen is the administrative assistant in the Communications Office, handling the department's billing and administrative work for the many publications produced by the office each year. She supervises the office's student employees and is the official candy supplier to visitors to 10 Library Square. In her spare time, Ellen enjoys cooking and doting on her three granddaughters.

Sandy Coleman came to Wheaton after a long career in journalism, including 18 years at the Boston Globe. In addition to editing the Quarterly magazine, she is a media relations officer for the college. In her spare time, Sandy also is an artist. Her work has been featured nationally on the Home and Garden Television crafting program, "That's Clever." She and her family live in Attleboro, Mass.

Barbara is Wheaton's principal designer and is responsible for the design and production of college publications intended for external audiences, including the viewbook, the Wheaton Quarterly, Wheaton Matters, and the college catalog, to name just a few items. Her design work can also be seen in a variety of other venues--from campus signs to the college's homepage. In short, she makes sure Wheaton's distinctive "personality" shines through in a variety of media.
Barbara has worked at Wheaton for more than 20 years. She is the proud parent of a member of the Wheaton Class of 1992.

Karen is the Wheaton Quarterly's assistant editor for Class Notes. Karen relocated to New England in 2001 with her husband, College Librarian and Vice President Terry Metz. For 17 years she was the cataloging and automation librarian at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. A native of South Dakota (but no cowgirl, she says), Karen received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota and has graduate degrees from the University of Iowa and Hamline University in St. Paul. In her spare time, Karen enjoys classic films, swing music, reading, bowling, and doting on the family's two cats, Flower and Scout.

Anna is the newest member of Wheaton's communications team. As associate director, Anna works on admission publications such as the viewbook, the web and The 1834 Journal, a news magazine for prospective students. Formerly, Anna was director of communications at Pingree School in South Hamilton, Mass. She holds an M.Ed. in higher education administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a B.S. in communications from Boston University. In her spare time, Anna enjoys the outdoors and taking care of her golden retriever twins, Emma and Tess.
