Media Services FAQ

How do I arrange to get equipment and/or support?

In order to schedule audio/visual equipment for a class before 5pm, a Media Services Request Form must be completed 5 business days in advance of the class. For any class after 5pm, an Event Form (obtained from the Event's Office in Balfour-Hood) must be completed 5 business days in advance of the event or class.

Media Services does not reserve classrooms. Please contact Conferences and Events at events@wheatonma.edu.

What kinds of equipment and services does Media Service offer?

Services we provide:

Provide and support audio-video systems in classrooms
Support campus events with projection systems
Videotaping of Events-Permission required from speakers prior to event. Events and conferences carry the agreement forms.
Record and catalog media broadcasts
Support other campus activities involving media and projection.
Purchasing and Rental Assistance
Oversee installation and maintenance of projection, audio, video, satellite, and broadcast equipment

Please be aware that we do follow copyright laws.

Please be aware that we do not provide equipment or services outdoors or outside of campus.

Student Dorms and The Lyons Den are also included in areas we do not provide services.

Please be aware that we have limited resources and may not be able to honor all requests.


This equipment can be delivered to classes and events by Media Services:

Laserdisc players
CD Players
Audio Cassette Players
16mm film Projector
VHS Camcorder cameras (low-end) with tripod
Microphones (low-end) with small portable pa speaker
35mm Slide Projectors
Portable LCD projectors
Laptop computers
Overhead Transparency projectors
Small audio speakers for internet/video playback
VCR/DVD Players
Screens (Tripod 6' and 8' screens only)

This equipment is to be used on campus only.

Please be aware that we have limited resources and may not be able to honor all requests.


This equipment can be checked out at the Balfour-Hood Media Center room 205 for a 24 hour period:

Mini DV Cameras (ZR and Elura Series)
Light Weight Tripods
Digital Still Cameras (Photo)
35mm Slide Projectors
Audio Cassette Recorders (handheld)
Audio Cassette Decks for Books on Tape
Boom boxes CD/Cassette
VHS Camcorder cameras (low-end) with tripod
Microphones (low-end)


Please be aware that we have limited resources and may not be able to honor all requests.

Is there a cost involved in equipment or support?

Typically, there is no cost for equipment or support from Media Services for events. However, if equipment is required that Wheaton does not own (or is already booked) or support skills are required that Wheaton staff does not possess (or is already booked) then outside resources can be hired. The cost for this service will need to be covered by the event.
