Introducing our students

Our students are the heart and soul of our program. German students at Wheaton are distinctive for their intellect, their artistic creativity, and their enthusiasm. Some have been high school exchange students in Germany; others begin their German with us and end up with near-native fluency; some have German-speaking family. Many have German roots; others are rediscovering their German-Jewishness. We have students with interests in documentary film-making, playwrighting, biochemistry, postwave feminismóand crucial for the future of our field, potential high school teachers of German.

Students have chosen to major in: German and International Relations; German and Women's Studies; German and Biochemistry; German and Mathematics, not to mention German with a Minor in Education, and ˆ why not ˆ plain German literature and culture.

Recent graduates are making documentary films in Africa; teaching English in Germany and China; teaching German high school in New York; and working in investments in Los Angeles and in publishing in Boston.
