Wheaton Art Tour to Berlin, October 2007

Wheaton invites you to Germany for a special nine-day Art Tour of the Unknown Treasures of Berlin, Friday, October 12, to Sunday, October 21, 2007. The leaders are Nancy Hirschland Ramage, Wheaton '63 and her brother Edward C. Hirschland, who have organized and led art and architecture tours for many years, a tradition started five decades ago by their mother, Ellen Berney Hirschland, Wheaton '40. All are welcome whether with ties to Wheaton or not.

Berlin has again become one of the great centers of modern Europe. Having recovered from the division of the city into East and West, and with billions poured into it by both Germany and the European Union, it is now a thriving city and a gem filled with art and architecture.

Your hotel will be the splendid Regent Berlin, one of Europe's finest, with a Michelin-star restaurant. Most of the week will be in Berlin itself, with its incomparable museums and architecture. We will also see numerous monuments to the Jews, including the new Holo¬caust Memorial. Two days will be trips out of town by private coach.

The nearly all-inclusive price is $5449 per person, double occupancy. We have built in every comfort, including luxurious accommodations; roundtrip air travel between Newark and Berlin; ground transportation; fine dining (most meals are included); wine or beer plus coffee at included meals; first-rate lectures throughout; tips; taxes; and much more. Single supplement is $1050. Please call Ed Hirschland at (312) 201-1111, or email hirschland@aol.com.

Nancy Hirschland Ramage, Charles A. Dana professor emerita of the humanities and arts at Ithaca College, received the excellence in teaching award from her institution. Nancy lectures frequently at universities and museums worldwide; several years ago she gave the Shippee Lecture at Wheaton.
